Automotive Collision Repair Technology raised more than $1,500 as the winners of this year's Money Wars. They also won the contest for the best-designed money collection jug.
Dozens of families will now have a merry Christmas thanks to the most impressive Money Wars fundraiser to date.
Francis Tuttle Technology Center students in the Trade & Industrial training programs raised $4,482.13 over the last month by collecting loose change and small donations. Kareem Salim, Education Enhancement Center Instructor for T&I, said this is a record for Money Wars, and it is over $1,000 more than was raised last year.
Money Wars is an annual, friendly competition between classes at Francis Tuttle to raise money for the Adopt-A-Family program. Automotive Collision Repair Technology won this year’s competition by raising $1,565.55.
Auto Collision also won the contest for the best-designed jug for collecting donations. Students used pieces of scrap metal to create a red semi-truck that carried their donated money.
All of the money collected goes to buy presents for students and their families who are in need of some assistance. Salim said this amount of money will provide gifts for 19 families and help a total of 77 people.
Francis Tuttle T&I programs include students who are training in Cosmetology, Nails, and Esthetics; Auto Service Tech and Auto Collision Repair; Aviation; Carpentry; Criminal Justice; Culinary Arts; and Service Careers in both Hospitality and Groundskeeping/Auto Maintenance.
