Cosmetology

Overview
Our basic Cosmetology career major prepares you to enter the beauty industry as a licensed Cosmetologist. You will study the latest beauty industry techniques through our comprehensive curriculum and work on clients in our on-campus salon to learn the theory and hands-on skills needed to beautify hair, complexion, hands, and feet. Upon completion of your course of study, you will be prepared for the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology Basic Cosmetologist licensure exam.
Our Cosmetology Master Educator career major is designed to teach the licensed cosmetologist the skills to become a teacher. The curriculum includes teaching methods, learning philosophies, and professional development. This major prepares you for the State Board of Cosmetology Master Instructor licensure exam by providing the training and practice you need to become an effective educator for all phases of cosmetology. You will study the latest teaching techniques and learning theories while you practice teach in our on-campus salon and classroom.

Occupational Characteristics
Cosmetologists work in a fast-paced environment, both physically and mentally. Work is indoors with a low to moderate noise level. There may be exposure to chemicals and blood-borne pathogens. Prolonged standing and working is often necessary to accomplish tasks.

TIMES:
Reno Campus
Daytime classes: 2 sessions, Monday - Friday
8:00 am - 10:55 am and 12:30 pm - 3:25 pm.
Only high school students and Master Educator students will be enrolled in daytime classes.
Evening classes: 3:45 pm - 10:00 pm, Monday - Thursday
Only full-time adults will be enrolled in this session.
Rockwell Campus
Daytime classes: 2 sessions, Monday - Friday
8:00 am - 10:55 am and 12:30 pm - 3:25 pm
High school students and adult students enroll in either AM or PM session. Full-time adult students enroll in both sessions. Master Educator students must enroll full time.
Evening classes: 3:45 pm to 10:00 pm, Monday - Thursday
Only full-time adults will be enrolled in this session.
