Nail Technician

Manicurists provide services for men and women related to beautifying the hands and feet. Our nail technician training program prepares you for this specialty service career by giving you the opportunity to practice professional techniques and work with real clients in our on-campus salon. You will learn massage techniques; arm, hand, leg and foot anatomy; manicuring; pedicuring and various artificial nail applications. Following your training, you will qualify to take the State Board of Cosmetology exam for licensing as a manicurist/nail technician.
Qualified instructors in this specialty field are in demand because of the detailed extensive education required. Our Nail Master Educator major is designed to help the licensed nail technician learn to teach so they can take their career to the next level. The curriculum includes teaching methods, learning philosophies and professional development. After completion, students qualify to take the State Board of Cosmetology Exam for licensing as a Manicurist/Nail Instructor.

Occupational Characteristics
Nail technicians work indoors with a low to moderate noise level. Work sometimes must be completed at a fast pace. Exposure to blood-borne pathogens is possible, making high sanitation standards very important. There is also potential exposure to chemicals, requiring the use of safe practices.

Daytime classes, 2 sessions:
8:00 am - 10:55 am and 12:30 pm - 3:25 pm
Part-time students enroll in either the AM or PM session. Full-time students enroll in both sessions.
Evening classes
Rockwell Campus only
Monday - Thursday, 3:45 pm to 10:00 pm
Only full-time adult students are enrolled in this session.
