Pedorthics

Overview
Pedorthist are responsible for all pedorthic patient care which includes the evaluation, fabrication, fitting, and follow- up, for all injures and pathologies involving patient feet.
The Pedorthic Practice Management program at Francis Tuttle provides a comprehensive education in Pedorthics. The curriculum is designed to introduce an entry-level student to the fundamentals of pedorthic practice. The course will cover patient evaluation, treatment plans, functional foot anatomy, fabrication, practice management, common pathologies, and biomechnics.
Pedorthic Practice Management is offered in an online blended format. The program consists of 15 weeks of online education and 2 weeks of on-site bootcamp.
Upon completion students will receive a certificate of completion.

Occupational Characteristics
Pedorthists work indoors in a Pedorthic facility or lab, which may be located in a private facility or a hospital setting. Some contact with hazardous materials is expected and precautions against inhaling the dust during grinding operations are required.
Moderate upper body and grip strength are required during fabrication of certain devices.
In addition, pedorthists are occasionally required to briefly lift items up to 50 pounds. Prolonged standing, kneeling, and working may be necessary to accomplish tasks. Multi-tasking skills are highly desirable.

TIMES:
Students enrolled in Pedorthic Practice Management are responsible for completing 15 hours of online education every week at their convenience. Students must also attend a 2 week/ 80 hour boot camp at the Francis Tuttle Rockwell campus in Oklahoma City.
