About this Major

Cosmetologists must function effectively under stress, communicate in a professional manner, and establish a rapport with clients and colleagues. They must be flexible, creative, artistic, and have good time management skills in a fast-paced environment. Work is usually indoors with a low to moderate noise level. Prolonged standing and working is often necessary to accomplish tasks.

  • Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering Master Educator Exam
  • Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering Master Educator License

This career major's curriculum meets the professional licensure requirements for Oklahoma but does not meet the licensure requirements for all other states.

Entrance Requirements

Students enrolled in the Cosmetology career major must provide copies of their birth certificate and high school transcript, as well as a 2x3-inch face photo less than one year old and a Cashier's check ($5.00) payable to the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering (OSBCB). A social security number is required on the initial application and is required to obtain a cosmetology license from the OSBCB. Student must have a current Cosmetologist license in order to take the Master Instructor Exam.

  • With proof at least 2 immediate, previous years in the industry, may be credited advanced standing of 700 hours.

  • Students enroll in both sessions

Evening classes available at Rockwell Campus only: Monday — Thursday
