Medical Office Assistant

About this Major

Medical Office Technology is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in a medical, dental, or hospital office setting. This program specializes in administration, with an emphasis on the practice of various medical office skills. The student completes classroom work using a personal computer. Current skills for word processing and medical office procedures are practiced.

As a Medical Office Assistant, you will often work in the administrative wing of a doctors' office, clinic or hospital. It is important to have strong proofreading, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to communicate in a professional manner and establish a rapport with clients and colleagues. In addition, students will acquire the necessary knowledge of medical insurance and patient billing.

Daytime classes, two sessions: Monday — Friday

  • 8 a.m. to 10:55 a.m.
  • 12:30 p.m. to 3:25 p.m.
  • High school students and part-time adult students enroll in either AM or PM session. Full-time adult students enroll in both sessions.
