About this Major

Medical Office Technology is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in a medical, dental, or hospital office setting. This program specializes in administration, with an emphasis on the practice of various medical office skills. The student completes classroom work using a personal computer. Current skills for word processing and medical office procedures are practiced.

As a medical office receptionist, you will work, often at the front desk of a doctor's office, clinic or hospital. It is important to have strong proofreading, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills, and the ability to communicate professionally and establish a rapport with clients and colleagues.

Times

Daytime classes, two sessions: Monday — Friday

  • 7:55 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • 12:30 p.m. to 3:35 p.m.
  • High school students and part-time adults enroll in either the AM or PM session. Full-time adult students enroll in both sessions.
