Nail Technician

Specialize as a manicurist and learn the importance of good nail care

Note: As we continue to monitor and adjust our schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot guarantee immediate placement into a program for adult students. There is a waitlist for those who are not immediately placed.

For both men and women, a good manicurist goes a long way toward good health in the hands and feet. Nail technician students prepare for this specialty service career through both classroom learning and in the on-campus salons, where they get the chance to work with real clients.

Students learn massage techniques; arm, hand, leg and foot anatomy; manicuring; pedicuring; and various artificial nail applications.

Upon completion of this program, students qualify to take the State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering exam for licensing as a manicurist/nail technician. Already licensed nail technicians can take our Master Educator course and help other aspiring technicians add their own creativity to this specialized service.

About this Occupation

Nail technicians perform detailed work with their hands and eyes. Safe practices are warranted as they often work with chemicals and must maintain high sanitation standards. The work environment is fast-paced, so self-motivation and strong time-management skills are important. In addition, technicians must be able to communicate in a professional manner, work independently and as part of a team, establish rapport with clients and colleagues, and maintain high standards of quality and customer service.
