Federal Grants
Pell Grants are intended for students who are citizens or eligible non-citizens and are enrolled in an eligible Career Training program. You must complete the FAFSA to apply and determine eligibility. You will see your Scheduled Award Amount on the FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) that you receive after completing the FAFSA. Award amounts are prorated for students enrolled in less than an academic year (900 clock hours and 32 weeks for all programs except Practical Nursing. The Practical Nursing program has an academic year of 900 clock hours and 30 weeks). Disbursements are typically made within two weeks of the beginning of a student's payments period. The disbursements will be electronically applied to your student account and applied to your institutional charges (e.g., tuition) for the payment period. If your disbursement exceeds the payment period costs, the cashier will refund the difference to you by paper check within two weeks after the disbursement was applied to your student account.
Pell Grant award amounts are determined by taking the lesser amount of the two formulas:
1. Divide the number of hours in your payment period by 900, then multiply the result by your scheduled award amount.
2. Divide the number of weeks in your payment period by the number of hours in your academic year, then multiply the result by your scheduled award amount.
If you complete your program before completing all the clock hours in a payment period, your Pell disbursement will be prorated for that payment period.
Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) provide limited funds for students with the greatest amount of need, as determined by the FAFSA. Funds are only awarded until all the money is gone, so it is important to complete the FAFSA to apply early. To qualify, students must meet federal eligibility requirements and be eligible for a Pell Grant. In 2024-2025, the maximum award amount for one academic year is $200, and it will be prorated for students enrolled for less than one academic year (900 clock hours). Amounts are determined by dividing the number of clock hours in the payment period by 450; the result is then multiplied by $100. Disbursements are typically made within two weeks of the beginning of a student's payment period. The disbursement will be electronically applied to your student account to cover any outstanding institutional costs for your payment period. If your disbursement exceeds the costs for the payment period, the cashier will refund the difference to you by paper check within two weeks after the disbursement was applied to your account.
If you complete your program before completing all the clock hours in your payment period, your FSEOG disbursement will be prorated for that payment period.
State Grants
Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grants (OTAG) are made available by the Oklahoma State Legislature through the Oklahoma State Regents. The priority deadline is January 1 preceding the school year for which you are applying, and it is important to complete the FAFSA to apply early. The maximum award amount is $743 for students enrolled for a full academic year ($743 for a payment period of 450 clock hours), and will be prorated for students enrolled in payment periods that are less than for less than 450 clock hours. OTAG disbursements for eligible students are typically made on a monthly basis. The disbursement will be transmitted to your student account once the funds are received from the State Regents, and will be applied to any outstanding charges for your payment period. If the disbursement is greater than the charges, the cashier will refund the difference to you by paper check within two weeks after the disbursement was applied to your student account.
Oklahoma's Promise is a full tuition state grant made available by the Oklahoma State Legislature through the Oklahoma State Regents. Students must enroll in this program in the 8th, 9th, or 10th grade. Students receiving Oklahoma's Promise must contact the Financial Aid Office at Francis Tuttle to notify them of their eligibility. Students must complete a FAFSA and meet the eligibility requirements. The Financial Aid Office will confirm the student's eligibility through the State Regents. Disbursements are typically made within a month after the student's payment period begins. The disbursement will be electronically applied to your student account to cover any institutional charges associated with your payment period. If the disbursement exceeds your payment period charges, the cashier will refund the difference to you by paper check within two weeks after the disbursement was applied to your student account.
Veteran/Military Benefits
To qualify for VA Educational Benefits, including the GI Bill® or Dependents’ Educational Assistance, students must be enrolled in an eligible career training program. For 2023-2024, eligible career majors include Practical Nursing, Cosmetology, Culinarian (evening only), Nail Technician, and Esthetician.
VA beneficiaries must turn in a completed Evaluation of Previous Training and Credit Form to the Financial Aid Office before the Veteran Benefits will be certified. Your instructor will help you complete this form.
Students may apply online at the Veterans Affairs website, under “Education,” and click "Apply for education benefits." Students may call the Department of Veterans Affairs at 1.888.442.4551 to receive more information on which chapter of benefits they are eligible to receive and the amount of money they can expect.
When the Department of Veterans Affairs approves the application, they will send the student a Certificate of Eligibility. The student must bring a copy of this letter to the Financial Aid Office.
Any student who has served in the military must bring a copy of his or her military transcript and transcripts from all prior post-secondary institutions to the Financial Aid Office. Military transcripts for Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy: Active Duty, Reserve, and Veterans may be obtained at Joint Services Transcript by clicking on register and print both transcript and summary. Air Force service member transcripts may be requested through Community College of the Air Force.
The student’s instructor must complete the Evaluation of Previous Education and Training. The student, instructor, and Financial Aid Office must all sign this form. This applies to all students, even if they have never attended a post-secondary institution or served in the military.
Once the student has brought the certificate of eligibility, copies of all transcripts, and the Evaluation of Previous Education and Training Form to the Financial Aid Office, the student’s enrollment will be certified.
Enrollment certification will be take place at the beginning of each term if the student remains eligible and the student requests to be certified for the term. If a student falls below the school’s attendance policy within the term, benefits will be terminated for the term. Students must also have at least a C average and a 70 percent progress rate to remain in good standing. Students who do not meet these policies will lose eligibility for VA Benefits at Francis Tuttle until s/he once again meets the standards. Students whose benefits are suspended have the right to appeal by writing a letter to the Financial Aid Office. The appeals committee will respond to the student’s appeal within two weeks.

This tuition waiver is available for qualifying members of the U.S. military who have served in active duty in wartime military engagements and are Oklahoma residents. Students must submit a completed application with a copy of Form DD-214. This tuition waiver will not combine with the tuition assistance for students who receive VA education benefits.
All applicants for the Military Tuition Waiver will complete the form online. To apply, you must have an active Francis Tuttle Technology Center application. Qualified, active duty military, reserves, National Guard, and veterans receive free tuition for short-term Lifelong Learning Classes. The individual is responsible for books and any student fees. To be eligible for the discount, an individual must currently be a member of the armed forces or have received an honorable discharge from the armed forces.
One of the following military documents is needed:
- Valid, current military ID
- Department of Defense Form DD-214 indicating an honorable discharge
- Valid, retired Military ID
- A veteran-designated driver’s license
- Veteran Health Insurance card
Students with a service-connected disability that limits their ability to work or prevents them from working may qualify for Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR and E).
This tuition waiver is available for eligible members of the Oklahoma Air and Army National Guard. The Waiver is for students who attend 12 or more hours a week.
All applicants for the Oklahoma National Guard Fee Waiver will complete the form online. To apply, you must have an active Francis Tuttle Technology Center application. Scholarships and Other Funding Sources
Scholarships come from funding that does not have to be repaid. If you are accepted, the organization providing the funding will send you an award letter.

Edmond Women's Club - Apply through the Financial Aid Office or request application form the EWC office at 405.340.2550. The scholarship is intended for women who live in Edmond, are Citizens of the U.S., are at least 25 years old and have demonstrated financial need. Applications are typically available in October.
Executive Women International - Apply through the Financial Aid Office. Applications are usually available by the first of February.
The Francis Tuttle Foundation Grant may be able to provide financial assistance to students in a career training program. Students who need help with tuition or emergency funding should visit with their career advisor for more information on how to apply. Adult students will need to complete the FAFSA to be considered for eligibility.
Washington/Dubose Memorial Scholarship - Available for deserving minority students who plan to further their education through Career Tech. The scholarship is provided by the Oklahoma Association of Minorities in Career and Technology Education.
Otha Grimes Scholarship - Available for adult students at the beginning of each semester. Students must fill out the form online and then print and submit it to the Financial Aid office within the first two weeks of the semester. Hand-written applications will not be accepted.
State of Oklahoma Nursing Assistance Program Physicians Manpower- Apply after acceptance into the Practical Nursing Program. The deadline is typically the first of July. For more information call Physician Manpower Training Commission at 405.843.5667.
H.W. Almen Scholarship Fund - Apply through the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. The deadline is typically February 28.
Bureau of Indian Affairs
Contact your tribal agency for additional information and benefits. The Francis Tuttle Financial Aid office will certify the appropriate paperwork from the agency.
Vocational Rehabilitation
Funding is intended to help those who have disabilities or injuries. Visit the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services or call 405.951.3400 for more information.
