This course is intended for currently certified Medication Aides (CMAs) seeking advanced training to care for long-term care residents with specific respiratory needs. It focuses on the proper administration of treatments using inhalers, metered-dose inhalers (MDIs), and nebulizers.
The course includes 4 hours of instruction offered in a flexible, self-paced hybrid format. Hybrid means a combination of in-person classes and optional online hours via our Flexible Health Zoom Classroom. All skills training and exams must be completed in person. Students work with the instructor to create a personalized schedule and may choose to complete the entire course in person if preferred. All skill demonstrations must be completed in person and require 100% proficiency.
This course qualifies toward the required CMA update hours when taken in combination with the CMA Advanced Nasogastric/Gastrostomy Medication class. The Nasogastric/Gastrostomy Medication class is a separate enrollment.
