Class Descriptions

DISC Workplace (Carol Naberhaus)

Participants in this workshop will complete the DISC assessment before class to ensure that they get the most out of the training. They will learn about four different personality styles, and how they communicate and collaborate. Knowledge of these styles will make willing participants better communicators and leaders.

Communications (with ties to DISC) (Jim Friedemann)

Leaders are best when they communicate effectively and transparently with their team, while also encouraging, hearing, and incorporating feedback that needs to be considered from their team. Participants will learn the importance of conducting and encouraging open and honest two-way communications.

Conflict Resolution/Crucial Conversations (Krista Scammahorn)

You are not being an effective communicator and leader if you’re avoiding important discussions at work because of potential unpleasantness. Participants in this training will learn that in order to manage conflict it is essential to learn skills for creating alignment and agreement. They will learn how to foster open dialogue around high-stakes and emotional/risky topics.

Credibility: Six Principles for Earning and Keeping It (Amie Haar)

Whether customer or internal stakeholder, it is your credibility that determines if, and how they will work with you. In this session you will learn how much more there is to credibility than simply doing what you promised. Participants will learn how they can become a preferred point-of-contact, internally and externally, by following through with these six principles.

Labor Law Compliance for Front-Line Supervisors. (Bill Wells, Attorney)

As a leader of people, you are required to know, comply with, and enforce workplace law, in partnership with your company HR professionals. Not knowing the law does not protect you from it in the workplace. Participants in this training will be brought up to speed on the laws that regulate the workplace.
