About this Program
The Teacher Preparation program is designed for high school juniors and seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in education. Through coursework, field experiences, and internships, students explore the teaching profession, develop essential instructional skills, and gain valuable insights into working with diverse learners in today’s classrooms. The program offers two pathways for those ready to build a career in education.
The Teacher Preparation major provides the coursework, field experience, and college preparation needed to pursue a degree in education. The Teaching Assistant major prepares students to earn their paraprofessional certification and begin working in classrooms across the metro immediately upon completion.

The Teacher Preparation career major is designed to expand on developing the students’ ability to lesson plan, explore more teaching strategies, and develop strong classroom management tools. Students will also connect with colleges and explore college scholarships.
Teaching Assistant is a prerequisite for this major.

Teaching Assistant
About this Major
The Teacher Assistant career major is designed to introduce students to various teaching and educational careers in Pre-kindergarten through high school. Students will be able to gain certification as a teacher's aide and work toward entering a college teaching program. This will allow graduates to begin working immediately in a classroom setting or give them an early advantage for acceptance into a college education program.
