"CareerTech is one of our greatest assets when we're recruiting a business." Leshia Person, Deputy Director of Aerospace & Defense
Oklahoma Department of Commerce representatives toured our Aerospace Technologies program last week.
The visit, led by State Director of Aerospace and Defense Vince Howie and Deputy Director of Aerospace & Defense Leshia Pearson, provided insight into how the programs can serve the workforce needs of Oklahoma’s aerospace industry. The group got to see Francis Tuttle students at work and saw how training would expand in the future.
“CareerTech is one of our greatest assets when we’re recruiting a business,” Pearson said.
The group got to see the Aircraft Sheet Metal class in action. Aerospace Program Developer Nick Powell said students spend 20-30% of their time in the classroom and the rest at workstations for hands-on work and projects.
Students receive similar experiences in the Aircraft Electrician and Composite Fabrication and Repair classes. Drone piloting courses are also available, and the group was shown how much those classes will expand over the next year.
