About This Major

Our basic Barbering career major prepares you to enter the Barbering industry as a licensed Barber. You will study the basics, such as the history of Barbering, the sciences, and business. Through a comprehensive curriculum and project-based learning program, you will practice the basic foundational skills necessary to perform basic barbering services to clients in our on-campus salon.

Upon completion of your career major, you will be prepared for the Oklahoma State Board of Barbering exam.

  • Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering Exam*
  • Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology ad Barbering Barber License*

Entrance Requirements

Before beginning classes, students enrolled in the Barbering career major must provide:

  • Copy of Birth Certificate
  • High School Transcript/proof of eight grade education or equivalency
  • 2x3 inch face photograph taken within the last 6 months, without graphics or filters
  • $10.00 Money order or Cashier’s check made payable to the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering
  • Social Security number

A Social Security number is required by the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering on the initial application and is required to obtain a barbering license from the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering.
