Project BUILD

Challenging students to reach their potential while guiding them toward employment in the construction industry.

Project BUILD provides training for young people on probation with skills for this high growth/high demand and economically vital industry for Oklahoma and across the U.S.; academic skills toward a high school diploma or G.E.D.; and critical life skills, all helping to deter them from a life of crime. Training focuses on:

  • General Carpentry
    • Framing/Drywall Installation
    • Construction Math
    • Safety (OSHA-30)
    • Construction Terminology
  • Communication and Employability Skills
  • CPR and First-Aid

This program helps keep individuals who have already committed a crime for which they received probation from a future life of incarceration. Recidivism rates for students participating in Project BUILD are significantly low, and a very high percentage of students have been successful in the construction industry and as productive citizens.

Guidelines for participation

Participants must be between 18-39 years old who have been placed on probation for various offenses, none of those being of a sexual or predatory nature.
