"I feel like I’ve had a head start being in high school and working toward my career early on."
From the time she was a young child, Kaydence Janzen knew exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up - a cosmetologist. As a student in the Cosmetology program at Francis Tuttle Technology Center, Janzen is working toward making that dream come true.
Janzen graduated from Cashion High School in May and is continuing at Francis Tuttle this school year. After completing the program and earning her license, Janzen wants to work in a salon. Someday, she hopes to operate her own location.
“I just love doing hair on me and my sisters, and I love making others feel pretty too,” Janzen shared. “I was always set on being a cosmetologist as a little girl. I feel like I’ve had a head start being in high school and working toward my career early on.”
At Francis Tuttle, Janzen has found a “great environment with great people,” where she has learned a lot and gained real-world experience. Janzen added that she is a shy person, and being in the program has “opened me up a lot” as she has met so many new faces.
She emphasized that cosmetology includes more than just cutting hair, and students in the program also learn styling, coloring, facials, nails, and more. Janzen has learned “something new every day,” which has been one of her favorite parts of her time as a Francis Tuttle student.
