BioSciences and Medicine Academy

"I absolutely love the level of STEM research we're able to do, which will prepare me for college and medical school."

When Feven Tesfaselassie’s older brother recommended she apply to the BioSciences and Medicine Academy in her lifelong pursuit of science, she accepted the challenge. He had completed the same program and was deep in coursework to become a biomedical engineer, so she knew he was serious, recalling his comment that it would prepare her and “make college seem easier.” Feven has taken every opportunity to participate in leadership roles: in her junior year, she served as president of HOSA, and earned first place in state competition in the CareerTech student organization for future health professionals; she currently serves as president of the Teen Leadership Board of The HOPE Center of Edmond; she works at a veterinarian clinic; along with her family, is active in her church; and she runs cross country at Deer Creek High School, to drop a few highlights. Feven has been accepted at Oklahoma State University to pursue zoology, planning to minor in either American Sign Language (ASL) or art, and later attend OSU’s College of Veterinary Science. With a backup interest in audiology, Feven feels prepared for whatever she chooses next.
