These courses instruct students on the broader subject of carpentry and guide students toward a career in construction. Students learn safety, building materials and reinforcing materials, wall framing, and how to read plans and elevations. Students may choose between an overall Construction Core course or three separate courses that relate to this subject.
Carpentry and cabinet making involves detailed work with the hands and eyes. Professionals work according to specific deadlines and must be able to manage projects and tasks and work both independently and as part of a team to complete projects as planned. For success in this career, you should have problem solving skills and attention to detail.
