Introduction to Cabinetry and Interior Finish 23-24

About this Major

Students gain entry-level knowledge of carpentry and cabinetry and how to work safely within the industry. An orientation course for OSHA safety is included in this major, along with introductory courses on framing, cabinetmaking, and construction-specific math.

Cabinetry involves detailed work with the hands and eyes. Professionals work according to specific deadlines and must be able to manage projects and tasks and work both independently and as part of a team to complete projects as planned. For success in this career, you should have problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Full-time: 5 months of instruction
  • Part-time: 10 months of instruction
  • Program length may vary based on progress rate and/or summer school attendance

Times

Two sessions: Monday — Friday 

  • 7:55 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • 12:30 p.m. to 3:35 p.m.
  • High school students and part-time adults enroll in either AM or PM session. Full-time adult students enroll in both sessions.
