About this Major

An eye for design, creativity, and willingness to be a lifelong learner area also beneficial characteristics of a Graphic Designer.

Graphic artists translate ideas into visual form and must be able to express emotions through their work. They may work independently, or as part of a team. Work often occurs under firm deadlines, so graphic artists must have strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to produce high quality work under pressure. In addition, graphic artists must have strong computer, reading, math, problem solving, proofreading and analytical skills, as well as the ability to communicate and establish professional relationships with customers.

Licensures/Certifications

Adobe Certified Associate – All certifications from the following:

  • Print & Digital Media Publication using Adobe InDesign
  • Visual Communication Using Photoshop
  • Graphic Design & Illustration Using Adobe Illustrator

*One certification paid for by Francis Tuttle.  Additional, optional certifications are available at student expense.

Length

  • Full-time: 10 months of instruction
  • Part-time: 20 months of instruction
  • Program length may vary based on progress rate and/or summer school attendance

Times

Daytime classes, two sessions: Monday — Friday

  • 7:55 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • 12:30 p.m. to 3:35 p.m.
  • High school students and part-time adults enroll in either the AM or PM session. Full-time adult students enroll in both sessions.
