Medical Assisting Front and Back Office

This course presents medical assistant theory and introductory level procedures for assisting healthcare providers with patient/client care in a clinic setting. Students learn both front and back office skills in a flexible, self-paced learning environment. 

The 423-hour class is delivered in a hybrid format with the option to complete some hours in an online format via Zoom, but all exams and skills are completed in the classroom setting. Skills practice on mannequins is required in the laboratory setting with an option for clinical experience as applicable. Students are subject to meeting the terms of the clinical site contract as it applies to immunizations and clinical requirements. 

Students start with a foundational anatomy and physiology (A&P) and medical terminology (MT) course. (PLEASE NOTE: Student who have a transcript with an A&P or MT Course can request advanced standing credit. Students would need to send a transcript demonstrating the course work has been completed within the last 5 years with a C or better to stormie.roberson@francistuttle.edu

Upon approval, students will enroll directly with an enrollment consultant (405.717.4900) for the adjusted hours/price. The A&P course content DOES NOT COUNT as a Francis Tuttle Practical Nursing pre-requisite. 

The Medical Terminology Content DOES COUNT as a Practical Nursing pre-requisite.) National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certification is optional for students who meet the certification requirements.
