This course is designed for individuals seeking foundational training as a Pharmacy Technician. The 60-hour course introduces key concepts such as pharmacy-related math, brand and generic medications, common abbreviations, drug labeling, inventory management, regulations, safety protocols, and error prevention in pharmacy practice. Emphasis is placed on developing essential theory and skills in a supportive and flexible learning environment.
The course includes 60 hours of instruction over 12 weeks in a flexible, self-paced hybrid format. Hybrid means a combination of in-person classes and optional online hours via our Flexible Health Zoom Classroom. All skills training and exams must be completed in person, requiring weekly on-site attendance. Students work with the instructor to create a personalized schedule and may choose to complete the entire course in person if preferred.
Completion of this course does not guarantee state licensure. Oklahoma pharmacy technician licensure requires additional training after employment in a licensed pharmacy setting.
Students who meet eligibility requirements may choose to pursue national certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). It is the student’s responsibility to research and become familiar with the specific eligibility, training, and testing requirements for either certification. For more information on certification options, visit: https://nhanow.com or https://www.ptcb.org
