This 12-hour course focuses on the role of the Certification Medication Aide with advanced diabetes care. The diabetes care will include classroom and lab training for glucose monitoring ONLY. Insulin administration is not included in this option. Learning activities direct the student toward understanding the responsibilities associated with diabetes care and management, proper safety, infection control strategies, communication of key information, and documentation skills.
The course is a self-paced flexible option format with the option to complete limited online hours via our Flexible Health Zoom Classroom. In person class hours located at the Rockwell Campus. Students work with the instructor to create a calendar based on individual needs.
PREREQUISITES: Must have a current LTCA/CMA status on the State Nurse Aide Registry for certification to be placed on the Nurse Aide Registry as an advanced CMA status.
